Coming Soon: Top 5 Movie Releases of September 2019

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

1. Hustlers (Sept. 13)- The plot of this movie may seem like that of a comedy, but don’t let that fool you. While not much is known about the plot, we know a group of ex-strippers turn things around on their old clients in order to get the pay-out they think they deserve.

2. The Goldfinch (Sept. 13)- Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Donna Tartt, this story follows Theodore Decker (played by Ansel Elgort), who’s mom dies in a terrorist attack bombing. After losing his mother, he grows up spiraling out of control and falling into a life of crime.

3. It: Chapter 2 (Sept. 6)- 27 years after the first movie was set, our favorite losers are back, and ready to fight Pennywise again, who has been waiting for their return. This time, the cast must face what they left in the past, along with what they are dealing with in the future after leaving Derry behind.

4. Freaks (Sept. 13)- Chloe’s dad has kept her locked in the safety of their house away from the ‘Abnormals’ all seven years of her life, and it’s all she’s ever known. When she escapes, she meets a stranger that is willing to show her everything she believes she is missing- and some things she never expected.

5. Tall Girl (Sept. 13)- An upcoming Netflix film, Tall Girl stars Ava Michelle, a Dance Moms alumn that was released from the famous dance team because her coach thought she was “too tall” to be a dancer. In the movie, she plays Jodi Kreyman, who has struggled with being the tallest kid in class all her life. When she falls for a foreign exchange student, she soon learns that her insecurites aren’t exacly what they seem.

Scotlyn is a UNT alum, Class of 2020. She graduated with a degree in Digital and Print Journalism and a minor in English. During her time with Her Campus, she served as the Chapter President for two years, and also held positions as Chapter Advisor, Writer, and Chapter Expansion Assistant through Her Campus Media. And yes, her name is like the country, but spelled differently.
