Having been sick for the past couple weeks, I can say that it’s never fun, especially during midterm season. A simple cough can turn in to something major, like Laryngitis in my case…not cool.  If you are someone who is susceptible to getting sick and want to deter any chances of it getting worse, then here are a few easy steps in order to get feeling better quickly:

 1. Sleep sleep sleep

Sleep is the most important way to get over a sickness quickly. I know it can be difficult when you have a nightly routine of watching Parks and Rec until midnight, but treating your body right and getting a good  night’s rest is the best way to go. I would recommend setting an alarm at night to start winding down, because I know how easy it is to just watch one more episode under the warmth of your blankets. Getting more rest than you normally would helps your body to recuperate and get back to feeling better the next day.

 2. Treat Yo’ Self

Sometimes pampering yourself can help make you feel better a lot faster. My favorite way is to have a relaxing “spa night”-run a bath, put a face mask on, light a few candles, and sip on a warm drink. The routine of treating yourself and setting the atmosphere for relaxation can really benefit your mood, especially if you aren’t feeling well.

3. Drink plenty of fluids

Usually, when your sick, your body is very dehydrated. Drinking lots of water and/or hot tea can help soothe your body and keep you from feeling like death. Drinking lots of water can hydrate your skin and make you look dewy and healthy, which is always a plus! Drinking water also keeps you energized and ready to take on the day whether it be going to classes, running errands, or finishing that big project. Either way, drinking water and plenty of other fluids is a great thing to do, especially when you feel a bit under the weather.

So next time you are feeling a cold kick in, utilize these tips in trying to prevent you from feeling worse. Stay healthy and make sure to get plenty of rest and allot time for your body to heal itself.

 Good luck,

 Tally
