Campus Cutie: Eunique Browder

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

Name: Eunique Browder

Age: 21

Year: Senior

Major: Secondary Education with English concentration

Hometown: Raleigh, NC but originally from Bronx, NY

Relationship Status: Single

HC: What are you going to be for Halloween?

EB: I’m probably not going to be anything… last year I dressed up as a lion. I actually wanted to be Suzie from Rugrats but I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to get a costume for that character!

HC: Do you have any hidden talents?

EB: Usually I am a pretty conservative and pure soul, but I’m pretty good at twerking.

HC: What is the best Netflix series you’ve watched?

EB: I love Jane the Virgin, I’m waiting for it to come back to Netflix because I will definitely watch that again!

HC: What are you most passionate about?

EB: I would say probably God and dance. My relationship with God and reaching out and talking to people about Him, and then my love for dance are pretty strong things in my life.

HC: What has been your favorite moment in 2017 so far?

EB: I think it would be the Red Bull dance competition my dance team, Physical Graffeeti, is able to participate in. Being able to come up with dance videos and working really hard at something I’m passionate about!

HC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

EB: I don’t know! But I know there are plenty of options. One of the safest options would be me going back to Raleigh and being a teacher and being close to my family. A lot of my family from New York and Puerto Rico has moved to Raleigh so it would be nice to be close to them. Or, I would maybe go to California or somewhere up north like D.C. because of diversity, opportunity, and history.

HC: Who is your favorite musician/artist?

EB: I am an old school person and I love R&B! But for today’s music and artists I would say Jhene Aiko and SZA, but a lot of people from back in the day like Brian Mcknight.

HC: What is the most important thing you have learned from your college experience?

EB: I think the most important thing is that I’ve learned about myself. I’ve learned a lot about identity being a minority on campus. Going to this college, I’ve really embraced being black and hispanic because not a lot of people on campus are, and I feel like I wouldn’t have embraced it as much if I saw more diversity. I really clung onto my identity and learned more about it so I could be more comfortable in it. I also learned a lot about my hair in college because I have to do it every day (lol). I also learned a lot about my relationship with God and a lot about friendships and relationships with others, too. But, most importantly, it’s okay to be selfish in college.

HC: Do you have any regrets?

EB: I’m not a person with a lot of regrets because I believe everything happens for a reason, but I wish I had traveled more in college.

HC: What is your biggest pet peeve?

EB: Hygiene, especially for guys. Like if they’re nails are dirty or longer than mine, That’s a complete turn off. I wouldn’t want you to touch me because I would just feel like you were dirty. If you have clean hands and nice nails, Amen. If not, that’s nasty get away from me. Also bats in the cave… that’s gross.
