Charlotte Farmers Markets

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCC chapter.

Supporting local farmers at a farmers market is a wonderful way to positively impact your community- and your body. Fortunately, there are a slew of outdoors farmers markets in Charlotte where you can do just that!

Kings Drive Farmers Market

This week I visited Kings Drive Farmers Market. When I arrived, there were tables upon tables of fresh fruits and vegetables. We purchased blackberries, $1 avocados, and plants! There was also a huge selection of fall related plants and even pumpkins. It was an absolutely ideal fall activity- perfect for after you take a crisp walk in Freedom Park. Their hours are 6am-6pm on Tuesdays, 6am-7pm on Fridays, and 6am-3pm on Saturdays.

Uptown Farmers Market

Another farmers market in Charlotte is the Uptown Farmers Market. The Uptown Farmers market has the traditional aspects of a farmers market like fruits and vegetables, along with baked goods, coffee, bread, meat, and cheese selections. People from all over the state come to sell their products- along with businesses right down the street. On some select mornings, they even have live music. Homegrown farm life meets fancy buildings and high rises when you visit Uptown Farmers Market. Their hours are 8am-12:30pm every Saturday on 300 S. Davidson St.

South End Farmers Market

South End Farmers Market right off of the rail trail is another great way to spend your Saturday mornings. After you grab a coffee at Atherton Mills, you can peruse the farmers market from 8:00am-1:00pm. Some of the vendors include a bakery from the blue ridge mountains, Craftsman Beverages who create vegan cocktail syrups, and Queen Hemp Co who run a hydroponic hemp farm in Charlotte. You can also use SNAP at the farmers market, ensuring more inclusive access to healthy food.
