What Fashion Week Said You Should Wear–and What You Should Really Wear

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

Fashion week has come and gone, and now we are all left, heads reeling, wondering exactly how we are supposed to walk around in a pair of those Rodarte foot-traps and why in the world we would ever attach a pair of fake bangs to our heads. Are we even supposed to keep up with these crazy trends? Of course. What fashion week says, we do.
Well, not exactly. If you’re looking to tone down a few of the daring moves you saw strutting down the runways in NYC last week, look no further.

Hard-to-master trend: Fake bangs
Solution: Real bangs

We have nothing against bangs; in fact, we fully support them. Some of our fave stars completely have rocked the look (i.e. Rachel Bilson, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Moss-, but WHY do they need to be fake? They do not. If you’re considering the idea, don’t just test the waters. Jump right in.

Hard-to-master trend: Leopard print
Solution: Small doses

The key to any animal print is to keep it to a minimum. Unless you’re Nikki Minaj, you have absolutely no reason to walk around in public looking like a cat. So keep the animal print at a minimum—only one piece, be it a shirt, scarf, jacket or belt.

Hard-to-master trend: Crazy nail detail
Solution: Nail art pens/nail polish strips

Cool nail polish designs have recently become super trendy, but not everyone has the time, skill or patience to polka dot, stripe and sparkle ten fingers. Luckily, Sally Hansen has graced us with products that make this process ten times easier (ten, get it?). Check out the brand’s nail art pens and nail polish strips and get salon-perfect nails with a lot less hassle.

So go out there and show UGA that even though New York may start the trends, we know how to rock them!
