The Oscar buzz surrounding Black Swan began almost immediately following its debut at the Venice Film Festival. Growing up as a dancer, I could not wait to see the psycho thriller that centered on the drama of the ballet world. In December, the movie finally came to theaters in my hometown of Alpharetta, and I convinced my mom to go with me. She ended up hating the movie while I was absolutely engrossed in it. I’ll confess that I didn’t know exactly what was going on all the time, but it was brilliant nonetheless (plus Natalie Portman’s performance was the pinnacle of perfection that her character Nina Sayers was after).
Whether or not the film will win for Best Picture is still to be foreseen, but the movie has already been a huge hit amongst Hollywood’s stylish stars. Pulling inspiration from the film, celebrities have taken center stage with feathered detailing, full ballerina skirts, and dramatically draped fabrics. So whether you’re a swan queen or the black swan, there is a movie-inspired look for you.
