I Have to Adult Now? 12 Questions We’re ALL Guilty of Asking Our Moms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

As college students, we often like to pretend that we know what we’re doing, when in fact, we have no idea. Adulting is much harder than real adults make it look. We’re all just wandering around pretending we’re not Googling how to use a laundry machine or send a package in the mail. If there’s one person you can count on to help you out with the little questions in life, it’s your mom. Don’t feel pathetic—we all do it. Here are 12 questions we’re all guilty of asking our moms.

1. How do I cook this?

Cereal twice a day gets old real quick.

2. How do I deposit a check?

Where do I sign?

3. Are leggings business casual?

Don’t get your hopes up on this one.

4. Can you send me a picture of my medical insurance card?

Beware: moms tend to take blurry photos.

5. Is this machine washable?

If not, it probably isn’t getting cleaned.

6. What’s my SSN?

This you should probably memorize, because real adults need this to do adult things.

7. Can I put plastic in the microwave?

No, no you cannot.

8. Does this look normal?

Whether it’s a potential outfit or a bodily deformity, this one probably comes up a lot.

9. How do I open a debit account?

Go to the bank. Just go to the bank.

10. Can you put more money in my account?

College kids spend money we don’t have, it’s just what we do.

11. Can I have your credit card number for textbooks?

“For textbooks.”

12. How do I make a doctor’s appointment?

And what’s our family’s medical history?
