Almost everyone has heard of the song “Molly” by Cedric Gervais and the remix by Tyga. A majority of the people who love those songs maybe even tried the actual drug, molly. A lot of people who try molly end up doing it more than once. For those of you who have never done molly, it’s probably best to keep it that way. First of all, molly is illegal, and extremely dangerous.  The feeling of being on molly is described as the best feeling you will ever experience. However, the people who lost their lives while on the drug would probably beg to differ.

So what is “Molly” exactly? Molly is a chemical, made in a lab. Its chemical name is methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or for short, MDMA.  It is the active and purist part of the drug ecstasyThere are about a million and one things that could go wrong when making and selling it. Often times, people will cut and lace any drugs they sell. So how do you know if the molly you just bought from that stranger isn’t laced with heroin? Often times you can’t, which is why it’s such a risk.

In recent news, a drug dealer was arrested for selling molly he cut with drain cleaner. So far, it’s killed almost 20 people. This is not the first time this has happened, and it will most definitely not be the last. Molly is very addictive, especially considering the reason it feels so good is because the drug releases serotonin from your brain in excess amounts.  When the molly has worn off, your body is left with no serotonin.  Serotonin, to put it simply, is what makes you happy. It’s a chemical in your brain that your body produces naturally, and regularly.  People who are depressed lack the normal amount of serotonin in their brains. That is exactly what happens when you take molly.  The effects can last for days, and for heavy users, the effects are long lasting. You can become seriously depressed, have memory loss, and lose focus easily.

It may seem safe since everyone has been doing it for years now, and only a few people have died.  But one death is more than enough.  We are already facing hundreds of other life threatening problems like obesity, hurricanes, homelessness, hunger, flooding, tornadoes, a financial crisis, war – the list is endless. Is it really worth the risk to experiment? Concerts are being cancelled because people are losing their lives over this drug.  How does that seem fair to anyone? We have seen enough people die from trying to have a good time, yet it is easy to have fun without the use of molly. Think twice before you try this drug. Save your money, save your time, and save your life.
