Here at Her Campus, we believe that campus organizations as well as the people in them are worth celebrating. This week, we decided to roll out a new weekly article and feature on our Instagram called Fraternity Friday. Each week, we will be highlighting a member of one of our fraternities on campus who we believe is a role model to his brothers and an example of what Greek life should be.

This week, we chose Henry Malpica of Alpha Sigma Phi. Henry is a fourth-year Construction Engineering major, as well as the Vice President of Growth for his fraternity and one of the founding members. Last year during spring recruitment, he helped to coordinate the largest recruitment class that they have seen in their history on campus. He also created a scholarship through Alpha Sigma Phi that is available to all students, with the goal of honoring a “hardworking individual who achieves high levels of academics, is involved with the community, and has shown progress in bettering themselves”. Henry is also one of the members of his fraternity who coordinated the necessary materials for them to acquire their charter as well as becoming recognized by the Interfraternity Council on campus. Outside of Greek life, Henry is the Vice President of the University of Maine Volleyball Club and has very proudly spent the last two summers working for LAN Associates, a surveying and architecture firm in his home state of New Jersey. Henry describes himself as “one who is dedicated to serving the community” and says that his work with this company has helped him strengthen his knowledge in his academic pursuits and allow him to keep giving back to the communities near him. While working for this company he has been given the opportunity to work on over $60 million in new school construction.

Henry is a member of Greek life who has shown himself to be a role model to his peers and his community. Thank you for all of your hard work! The Alpha Sigma Phi scholarship can be found here: https://chapterbuilder.com/forms/?id=7508&chapter=f3ab94fbc3b26f8b36… 79
