I think this pandemic has brought out the worst of my phone addiction and increased my screen-time drastically. I think we can all agree that we have been on Tik Tok a little more than we ever have been in our entire lives… I’ve also been noticing the numerous amount of products people have recommended, and eventually become a trend! Let me start with describing my skin type; I have acne-prone combination skin but it goes more toward oiliness than dry. Here are some products I’ve given a try and would recommend to anyone else with similar skin types!

1. The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

This red mask may seem familiar with its horrifying blood-like resemblance on the face, but actually acquires many benefits. This peeling solution is very potent and not made for frequent use. I’ve seen it recommended by various Tik Tok beauty influencers such as Hyram (skincarebyhyram) and it is said to work wonders on different types of skin! I’ve only used it three times in total so I don’t have the best view on the product, but as far as the ingredients go, this is a great product with high amounts of salicylic acid which is good for acne-prone skin. This product along with many The Ordinary products, are very affordable and great for those pockets!

2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

This product was not as trendy as The Ordinary product, but it was recommended by Hyram! This moisturizer claims to be great for oily and acne-prone skin with hyaluronic acid which promotes healthier and supple skin. Not to mention the beauty of being a drug-store product! It comes out to be about $24 for 1.7 oz which isn’t too bad of a price-tag considering the fact that it is a drug-store product. The product’s jar is aesthetically pleasing and the moisturizer itself is a light blue shade, and all-in-all, feels very expensive. It’s a super rich texture and leaves my skin feeling super moisturized! I’ve had no complaints!

3. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Yes, it is another The Ordinary product! I’ve been all over this brand even before I’ve seen it blow up on my Tik Tok page, and I’m glad it is receiving the recognition it deserves! I’ve never tried this particular item so I decided to give it a try as it is a front-runner favorite behind the peeling solution. It is said to be the best product for reducing the appearance of large pores as well as balancing the overproduction of oil — which are two big problem areas I have for my skin! I’ve only been using it for 2 weeks, every other night, and I am in love! I haven’t seen a huge difference in the skin yet, but I do think that ever since I’ve been using The Ordinary products my skin has gotten a lot clearer.

These are the only beauty products I’ve seen on my For You Page that I thought were truly worth giving a try! I urge you to give them a try as well if you are struggling to find a skin-care routine that works for you. I have felt a difference in using these products rather than Clean-and-Clear or other harsh skin-care products meant for acne-prone skin. Remember that it is normal for your skin to break out in the beginning of transitioning your skin-care routine and to not completely throw it out if this happens to you!
