As a college student it can be hard to save money, especially when you have an apartment. Here are some tips that have helped me so much:

Secondhand Shopping

As much as I can, I try to secondhand shop to save money and the environment. There’s a Goodwill and Plato’s Closet not far from my apartment, where I have bought unique and cheap pieces that I wear often.

Planning for Grocery Shopping

Before my roommates and I go grocery shopping, we always make sure to create lists of everything we need. We limit the amount of unnecessary items that can’t be repeatedly used and we try to buy a lot of meat, fruits and vegetables.

Cooking from Home

Even though it can be hard, I try my best to cook from home rather than eating out. My roommates and I take turns or help each other make meals to make it easier for all of us. We also plan meals in advance so we know what we’ll be eating every day of the week.

Taking Advantage of Student Discounts/Codes

There are countless discounts and codes that college students can take advantage of to get free or discounted things. Apps like Snackpass, GoPuff, Spotify and more offer codes that can make a huge difference in how much your total spending will be.

All of these tips have helped me to save money, an important skill to learn as a young adult!
