How To Be Productive During the Coronavirus Chaos

We are all aware of the coronavirus pandemic which has seemingly changed each of our daily lives. While it’s easy to get overwhelmed with negative thoughts and panic during this time, it’s in all of our best interests to use this time at home to better ourselves, get organized, and be productive! Here are some ways that I have been doing this:

1. Develop a new hobby

One of the best ways to fill time is to develop a new hobby or skill whether it be learning how to play that instrument you have laying around, reading, writing, drawing, or anything else you wouldn’t normally have time for but want to try. Personally I’ve been doing so much cooking and baking, which is both stress-relieving and a skill that I definitely should have as a college student.

2. Organize your life

As I’m sure many of you relate to, there are SO many parts of my life that need organizing. My room, my future plans, figuring out things I need to buy, etc. If you’ve been putting off any of these, now is the perfect time to accomplish them. I’ve taken on the task of organizing my closet and planning out my classes for next semester, which is a lot less overwhelming when I have no other obligations.

3. Create goals

To avoid losing all motivation, especially without any schoolwork yet, everyone has to have goals for this break. It could be getting fit, spending time with family, reading a book a week, or really anything that you want to get done. It’s important to have something to hold yourself accountable for when it’s so easy to be lazy and just lay around.

4. Self care

One of the first things my friends and I joked about was that we’d use this time to glow up and actually do self-care for once. This is the best time to focus on yourself and actually take care of yourself. Do those face masks, give yourself a manicure, eat clean, whiten your teeth, or anything else you can think of.

5. Talk to friends/family

Call or Facetime that friend you’re losing touch with or a family member you can’t be with at this time who might be lonely. Connect with the people around you and if you can’t physically, do it virtually. Netflixparty has been one of my favorite things to do with friends because it allows you to watch something with them and have a chat box on the side.

Keep all of these in mind for the next few weeks, months, or however long this lasts. Stay healthy and productive!
