The Life Cycle of a Pixie Cut, as told by GIFs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

When you first chop all of your hair into a pixie cut, it feels like the greatest thing in the world.

You feel sassy and chic, and you soak up all the laughably-inaccurate celebrity comparisons.

No matter what you wear, you feel like the heroine of a Jean-Luc Godard film.

People keep telling you that the growing out process will be tough, but you’re like:

You can’t imagine having long hair anymore, anyway.

Until you see someone’s gorgeously long mane….

And you realize—you miss having long hair.

So you decide to grow it out, and at first it isn’t so bad.

In fact, it still looks pretty cute.

Then, it starts getting longer. It’s kind of a mess, but nothing you can’t fix with bobby pins and hats.

Its all fun and games, until you wake up one day and realize you have what amounts to a bowl cut.

Nothing looks good anymore.

In your desperation, you even consider trying a wig. You think you’ll look cool and mysterious…

But in reality, you look more like this.

So you give up, and you just try to control the mess on top of your head with accessories and hairspray.

Eventually, you reach the bob!

You still want it to grow longer, of course.

But you’re just so happy it’s finally long enough to put into a pony tail.

You’re thrilled to have long hair again.

Until you see a super cute pixie cut, and the cycle inevitably begins again.
