Loathe: When stores are out of the ONE thing you want
I know I can’t be the only one who has had one of these moments… You walk into a store for one specific item that you NEED to have right at that moment. You specifically chose that store because you know for a fact that they carry said item. Then, when you get to the exact spot you know it should be, there is something else in it’s place, something very decidedly NOT what you walked in for.
After a momentary freak out you decide to yourself that it’s fine, the item has simply been moved. You search around in the general area, nothing. You search other logical areas for your item to be, nothing. Finally, you do the unthinkable. You ask someone who works there.
After politely saying “Excuse me ma’am but do you know if y’all have any of the Autumn Mix candy corns?” the worker slowly turns around to face you, stares at you like you just asked her to help you fix a flat tire in the rain on the side of the I-10, chews her gum once or twice, and then says “No we ain’t got any those right now,” and then turns back away from you and continues her conversation with the other worker.
Aghast at the fact that a place with 400 different types of Halloween candy not have those yummy pumpkins and chocolate candy corns, you decide to buy a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and drown your sorrows in front of a Gilmore Girls marathon… Damn Walgreens.
*In case you were wondering, yes – I did NEED Autumn Mix candy corn very recently, and yes this story is an adaptation of my real life experience. That is all.
