LOVE: Saints games at the Superdome

The first pro sports game of any kind that I attended was the Saints’ Nov ’09 victory
over the Patriots. I didn’t really follow football until I moved to New Orleans in
the fall of 2008, but as soon as I got here, the Saints had me hooked. Watching that
game in person, in the dome, was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
It’s hard to explain or understand the environment without actually experiencing
it for yourself, but let me assure you, Saints fans are truly one of a kind. I’ve never
heard a more deafening roar than when the Saints had officially won that game.
That year they went on to win their first Superbowl.

Since then I have attended 4 more games at the dome, all of which the Saints have
won. (How’s that for a good luck charm?) Each game leaves me breathless, euphoric,
and feeling united with New Orleans as a whole. I don’t know if it’s the dome, or
the city, or the fans, or the team – what I do know is that something very special
happens when all those pieces come together.
