Top 10 Songs of the Week: April 1st-April 7th

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

In honor of the beginning of April, let’s countdown some of the biggest hits from this past week:

1. Sam Smith ft Logic – Pray

Sam Smith released his new single, “Pray,” and it’s an emotional number. Rapper Logic also features on the track and he makes the depths of the song’s lyrics more powerful.

2. Charlie Puth ft James Taylor – Change

Charlie Puth’s “Change” spreads a message of unity and world peace. He performed the single at the recent #MarchForOurLives in Los Angeles, California. Between the sweet melody of the piano and his soothing voice, the song is a necessity for anyone’s daily playlist.

3. Jesse McCartney- Better With You

It’s been a while since we last heard from Jesse McCartney, but better late than never. His latest single, “Better With You,” will remind you of the bliss of being in a relationship.

4. Shawn Mendes – Lost In Japan

Shawn Mendes released not one, but two singles this week. The first track, “In My Blood,” is nice to listen to, but “Lost In Japan” will pump you up for your night plans.

5. Marian Hill – Differently

Marian Hill’s new song, “Differently,” is just like the singer’s previous releases, which are known for their lyrical and funky sounds.

6. Amber Mark – Love Me Right

Amber Mark is a new artist known for her soulful vocals. Her rise to frame started with submitting a song on Soundcloud back in 2016 and now she’s coming out with her very own EP, “Conexão” soon. Her latest song, “Love Me Right,” is about that moment in a relationship when you become frustrated with your lover.

7. Cardi B – Be Careful

Cardi B’s new album comes out on Friday, but let’s talk about her new single first. “Be Careful” is the type of song you listen to when you suspect that your lover may be cheating on you. You’ve been warned ladies and gentlemen!

8. The Weeknd – New Album

The Weeknd just released his new album, “My Dear Melancholy,” and honestly it sounds like one huge breakup album to cry to. My personal fave track is “Try Me.”

9. Tyler, The Creator – Okra

Rapper and comedian Tyler The Creator brought his creativity for the video of his new hit, “Okra.”. The video’s visual effects and transitions are amazing to watch and brings a strange “No New Friends” vibe. The song is a banger to listen to on the way to class or a party.

10. Mike Will Made It ft Pharrell, Big Sean, Quavo, & Rae Sremmurd- Aries (YuGo pt.2)

I couldn’t end this list without mentioning #AriesSeason! Music Producer Mike Will Made It has been in the game for the longest time and now he came out with a complete banger of his own. As an Aries myself, I’m happy that there’s a song named after the ram!

I hope these songs will lift your spirits and maybe (even temporarily) cure your school stress.

‘Till next time!
