Why Studying with Friends is Actually the Best

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Susqu chapter.

There are many differences between high school and college. Two of the biggest being the workload and how often you see your friends. At college, you basically get to live with and see your pals whenever you want, which is super cool. I also realized that you can do homework with your new friends, which makes doing all the work you have to do twenty-five times better than doing it alone.

A lot of my friends are not even in the same major, but I still love doing homework hangouts with them. Even if we all have our earbuds in and are doing completely different assignments, it is still a fun experience. From small dance breaks to social media breaks to small laughter breaks, studying with your friends makes life that much more bearable.

Strangely, I also find myself focusing better when I am surrounded by others. I think part of it is group mentality. When everyone is focusing and working hard, I am motivated to keep doing my work and don’t want to break up everyone’s rhythm by distracting them. All my friends are so smart and work their hardest on every assignment, and they make me want to be like that too.

They are also great to bounce opinions and ideas off of for essays or anything, even if our topics are unfamiliar to one another. I know my friends and I are already on the same level that when I speak my half-done idea that makes no sense, at least one of them already knows what I am trying to say and can help me actually form a concrete thought and concept for whatever assignment I am working on at the moment.

In conclusion, one of my favorite things about college is getting to do not only to do the fun things with my pals but the monotonous everyday stuff that makes it feel like the world is ending. Surrounding yourself with best friends will make anything better.
