Environmental Studies, Sociology & Arts, I believe that the solution to our environmental problems relies on the people through advocacy!

Favorite Television Show (and why?):

That 70’s Show, I find it really funny and I like to watch it when I am stressed

What is your dream job? Why?:

Working in the Mexican government because I want to make a change in my country & having an independent magazine because I love to write and have a lot to share with the world

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?:

I think I would go back to the Gilli Islands in Bali, it has been the most peaceful place I have ever been in.

What social movement(s) are you most passionate about, and why?:

So many but I think the main two are feminism & climate change

Why did you choose to attend St. Lawrence?:

I love the location, size of the university, and all the opportunities it had.

Favorite On-Campus Meal (indicate dining place)? Why?:

I haven’t been to campus yet lol, I’m a first-year doing my first semester remotely

What is on your must-have college packing list as a Laurentian/as a St. Lawrence student? Why?:

My Mexican snacks!

What is on your St. Lawrence bucket list (to-do before you graduate)? Why/who gave you this idea?:

Do a semester abroad, it just something I really want to do during my college experience

Why did you join Her Campus at St. Law U? What are you looking forward to with HC St. Law U?:

I joined because I love writing and I’ve been into blogging since I was 13, so I find Her Campus the perfect place for me!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?:

I love reading and visiting new coffee shops in my city.

Fun Facts:

I have a podcast in Spanish with my friends called ‘Latinas A Bordo’ where we have different guests and talk about our experience abroad as well as current social movements in the world, but specifically in Latin America!

Hi! I am Valeria Obregon!! I am an international student from Mexico. I am currently a freshman at St. Lawrence University. I intend to pursue environmental studies and sociology major with a minor in arts. A little bit about my background is that I studied my last two years of high school in Singapore (UWCSEA) and took a gap year afterward where I did Semester at Sea (SASFA19). I am passionate about current social problems such as gender inequality, migration, and environmental crisis.
