Open Letter to Single People On Valentine’s Days

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sonoma chapter.

Dear Single People On Valentine’s Day,

First of all, I hope you’re not all sad and mopey because you are single on a day that revolves around buying your loved one a gift to prove that you love them. Just because you don’t have a significant other doesn’t mean you have to boycott this day. After all, Valentine’s Day should be about all kinds of love, not just romantic or sexual love. There’s sooooo many things you could do instead of feeling left out because you do not have a SO.

Friend’s day

Take this day to go out with your friends, go on a date with them, take them on  a nice dinner or even better…make a nice dinner together! Maybe even dress up and wear that cute dress youve been wanting to wear. Spoil yourself because why not? You can cook something fancy like steak or lobster but you could also stick to something super simple like pasta, salad, and a quick dessert. Friends are great people to celebrate with. Stay in with your friends or roommates and watch chick flicks because we all know chick flicks are thee best. Throw some wine in there to top off a perfect night!

Self Care

Or, how about taking a much needed self care day? You can use the time to have a spa day just for yourself; get yourself a bath bomb or your favorite bubble bath, your favorite face mask, and maybe even a glass of wine. One thing I like to do before I get in a bath is put my laptop on the sink or maybe even on a chair so I could enjoy my favorite shows.

For the Broken Hearted

If you just went through a bad breakup, then maybe it is okay to feel A BIT sad because I know you probably envisioned yourself spending this day with them. But don’t let that one douche ruin a good day for you, i’m sure he has already ruined enough of them. If you do feel like having an introverted V-Day, stay in and binge watch your favorite Netflix show, order your favorite take out, and wear your comfiest pair of sweat pants! Take this day to do you!

Whatever it is you decide to do, I hope you enjoy your Valentine’s Day! From one single girl to another!
