Proceed with caution, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life finally premiered on Netflix and if you are anything like me, you watched all four 90 minute episodes in a day. After waiting months for the revival to come out, I was excited, nervous and all around sceptical about how the show would pan out. The last thing I, or anyone else, wanted for Gilmore Girls was to have a sequel that bombed as hard as Grease 2. I mean seriously, who’s idea was it to make a Grease 2? But, once the clock struck twelve and A Year In The Life was available to stream, I was immediately transported back to the wonderful, quirky town of Stars Hollow. Almost every character from the original series made a cameo in the sequel including Lorelai’s ex-boyfriend Jason, Luke’s cook Caesar, and even Ms. Celine! Although I truly did love the revival, I can’t say I 100% loved it. And here are my reasons why:
1. In the first episode, we learned that Rory had a boyfriend of two years named Paul…I think. I started to envision how this would pan out throughout the mini series: How Paul would fit in and how this affected all other relationships with Dean, Jess and Logan, but I soon realized it wouldn’t. Paul was just the annoying boyfriend Rory kept forgetting to dump. I hated the way Rory treated Paul and strung him along for three years! I understand this was for comedic effect, but it just made Rory look like the bad guy.
2. RORY WAS LOGAN’S SIDE CHICK… As much as I hate the phrase “side chick” I can’t think of anything else that describes their relationship. I have always been #teamlogan and was super excited when i saw them in London together, until i learned that there was an Odette. Why is Rory having so many affairs with married men? First with Dean and now Logan! This is just unacceptable.
3. Rory is still super privileged, and is not afraid to show it. Throughout the series, Rory expects to be getting offers from the Washington Post or Vanity Fair instead of starting from the bottom and working her way up. Rory is 32, but she still expects to just be handed things.
4. What happened to Marty! Again #teamlogan, but we never got to see how Marty turned out or if he was still pining for her.
5. The final four words…Seriously Amy Sherman Palladino! The last four words could have been literally anything else. All I’m saying is that there better be a season two.
