Unless you have been living under a rock, or only subscribe to Hulu (why?) you have probably seen or at least heard of the new Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why. The 13 episode series is based off the best selling novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher centering around a 16 year old boy named Clay listening to his first love explain to him why she killed herself over casette tapes…and why he is one of the thirteen reasons. So without further a do, here are the thirteen stages we all went through while watching 13 Reasons Why:
First stage: OMG ITS HAPPENING!
With so much buildup surrounding this premiere what other feeling could you have than totally stoked to FINALLY watch it!
Second Stage: Completely obsessed…
Am I the only one that finished the entire series in a weekend…?

Stage 3: wtf is wrong with this high school!
I am not downplaying the effect that bullying has on people nor am I denying its existence, but every single person in this series is a dickhead in one way or another…I mean seriously how did the school NOT catch on? They talk shit about eachother in front of their “communications” teacher! *who is Lane from Gilmore Girls btw…

Stage 4: Complete and utter rage!
Seriously everyone was so incredibly mean to this one adorable sophomore girl just because they could be! High school generally sucks, but this high school is just flat out shitty.

Stage 7: What’s the point of Skye’s character…?
I kept waiting for a reason why she was even a character, but for some reason that explanation never came. She just always seemed to piss Clay off!

Stage 8: Loving and hating Tony all at the same time…
He was equally the sweetest and creepiest guy on the show. He was always there watching, but never imposing unless necessary, but he got seriously annoying at times!
*Beware stage 9 is a spoiler- skip to stage 10 if you haven’t seen the show yet!
Stage 9: Seriously Jeff had to die!
Jeff was the only character that was good and not just looking out for his own best interest! I practically cried when I found out he was the one in the car!

Stage 10: The night of the party…
Right when you think the story might turn around a little…the shit hits the fan again. I don’t blame Hannah for freaking out, I mean how could she not when every guy she ever met was a complete asshole to her? But right as we all thought there would be somewhat of a happy ending, it all gets shut down!

Stage 12: Wanting to strangle the guidance counselor!
Not only did he do nothing to help the students cope, he tried to tell Hannah TO FORGET ABOUT HER RAPIST! All he cared about was covering up all the situations that were happening under his watch and just sweeping them under the rug so he wouldn’t get sued!

Stage 13: Knowing what comes next…
It’s no surprise that Hannah killed herself in the end, but the shock hit us all the same. I could barely watch the scene where Hannah killed herself in the bath because it was just too painful. Sadly this wonderful and horribly terrifying show was needed to show the world the real effect that suicide has on people.
