Reasons Why St. Patrick’s Day is Best in Buffalo

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SBU chapter.

Why is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Buffalo the best, you ask?

Well, I have an answer.

Growing up in a small, Irish neighborhood in South Buffalo, I would say that I have a pretty good understanding of what it is like to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the right way. So here is my opinion about why Buffalo does it best:

1. Beer for breakfast the weekend of St. Patrick’s day is allowed and celebrated.

But caution if you don’t have a beer in hand you will get yelled at. What a time to be alive.

2. You can walk around South Buffalo and smell nothing but corned beef and cabbage coming from our homes.

Parent made, ancestor approved.

3. WalletHub.com ranked Buffalo as the 2nd best city in the United States in 2016 when it comes to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Now, usually, I’d say if you’re not first you’re last but not this time. If you haven’t visited Buffalo during St. Patrick’s Day you’re wrong.

4. It doesn’t matter what you are, as long as you’re wearing green, you’re Irish.

Because everybody is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!

5. You run into someone you know every five minutes.

And they are usually the people you only see this time of the year!
