The Well: 4 Fun and Unique Workout Classes to Attend this Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacramento chapter.

Being a student at Sacramento State, you’ve surely heard about The Well. Well, pun intended, today I’m going to tell you all the different activities and fitness classes that are sponsored and hosted by The Well in the months of November and December. While you’re here, definitely check out Angelica Torres‘s article to see previous free fitness classes held at The Well.

1. Self Defense

Attending a Self Defense class is great way to change up your normal exercise routine, and also have fun learning new skills that can help you. Personally, I would love to learn new skills and defend myself if I’m ever in a terrifying situation. This session at The Well starts on November 5, 2018 and goes until December 3, 2018. It is only 20$ for this session which is four weeks long. For more information and to register for the session, click here. Attending this class is a fantastic way to feel empowered and strong!

2. Koru Meditation

With finals around the corner, students need to stay calm and relax. What better way to relax then to do some meditation? This meditation workshop is free, yes you read that correctly. It is a free and it’s a fun way to change up your routine. Koru meditation is a way for students to learn meditation skills and mindfulness. I will definitely be needing meditation to stay as calm as possible since finals are approaching fast. This is a great way to hang out, meet new people and relax. To learn more and to register click here.

3. Zumba Glow Party

As a first year student at Sacramento State, I didn’t know anything about the Zumba Glow party but it sounds super interesting and fun. It is an annual thing at Sacramento State. Zumba is an intense dance workout, but it’s so exciting because it’s fast paced and burns calories really quickly. Personally, I love dance so this would definitely be one that I will try.

4. Yoga

Yoga isn’t just mentally calming, but also physically soothing. With finals approaching quickly, we students shouldn’t lose focus on our mental health. This free session consists of 90 minutes and is sponsored by both The Well and the Sacramento State Unique program. This session is on November 15, 2018 at 7:30-8:45. It’s also another way to get involved on campus and enjoy your experience as a student here at Sacramento State. If you need more information on Yoga Night click here.

Exercise is really important when it comes to both physical and mental health. Also, having a balance in exercise and finding what form of exercise suits and works best for you is beneficial. It’s not just good for our body and brain, but its a form of pleasure and amusement. Hopefully giving you these different options of fitness classes to take during November and December can help you find your preferred form of exercise.
