The Do’s & Dont’s For Fall Fashion Favorites

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacramento chapter.

With Halloween over and Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s time to put your best #OOTD fall fashion forward for the best look ever! There are some definite fall favorites to consider shopping whether it is buying a new dress or digging for those muddy boots from last year in year hidden in the closet. This list will help you decide what to keep for this season and to think about storing away:

1. Don’t Wear Anything White

On Thanksgiving, wear anything else, but white. White pants, white blouses, white dresses, etc. Save yourself from being the girl who has gravy stains on her dress in the family pictures. Instead, opt for a chunky sweater, which can be worn over a white collared shirt. Not only does it do an excellent job for keeping you warm during this cold, winter weather, but it also makes a fashion statement without too much effort.

2. Do Wear Lightweight Scarves

You can throw on a scarf or a pashmina and instantly look more put together- it’s that simple! Plus, with this chilly weather, an extra layer won’t hurt. There are so many ways to wear scarves that it’s hard to chose a specific style!

3. Do Be on the Lookout for Knee-High or Thigh-High Boots

Okay, so maybe you can’t exactly wear these to your 8 am history class, but you can still wear the boots to a “friends-giving” night. Or even Thanksgiving (maybe wait until after you’re done in the kitchen to throw these on.) Make sure to scope out those cute boutiques in Midtown for a good shoe find!

4. Do Wear A Cute Off The Shoulder Shirtdress

It is time of the year to trade in your summer club dresses for a flowy shirtdress. Plus, you will have more stretch to feel free to eat a lot. This style can be so simple to wear and look way cute! Dress them up or down and you can have an outfit for school, or ready to go out to take fall pictures at Apple Hill with your best friends!

What’s most important is that you choose something that you know you’ll feel comfortable and love to wear. Everyone has their own style to show off so get out there and take advantage of the autumn season to throw on a cute pair of over the knee black boots with a dress or choose a cozy fall sweater to rock with converse.
