While it may be hard to know if flare pants ever went out of style, theres no denying that they’re making a comeback now. They’re a bold fashion statement that’s way too underated so figuring out how to where them isn’t always easy. That’s why our team here at Her Campus Ryerson has laid out some easy tips to make incorporating a little flare into your own wardrobe an absolute breeze!

1) CLEAN AND SIMPLE Black and white can do no wrong. It’s classy, professional and timeless. Not to mention, it pairs with everything.

2) GRAPHIC, GRAPHIC, GRAPHIC! Really embrace the effortlessly retro style of flare pants by wearing them in a striped print. Vertical stripes are both flattering and slimming and not too in your face that you can’t mix them with even more funky prints. Plus the flare balances out the natural curves of your body, so that all of your best features (like butt and calves) are emphasized. One of our favourite looks is classic stripes with a graphic tee, check it out!

3) BOLD AND BRIGHT Solid colours are fun and flirty, especially when combined with a sleek flare. Throw on a plain white shirt and just like that, you have a chic outfit that’ll make a lasting impression!

4) THE WOODSTOCK LOOK Embrace your free spirit in some floral patterns. These pants already have a breezy, laid back vibe so combine them with some flowers for an instant bohemian style.

5)  AGELESS DENIM  In a sense, denim flares are really the OG flares. They’re so original that they work with nearly every outfit. They’re super casual with just a hint of cool. We’d suggest trying them with a printed top, a classic white tee or a blouse (if you want to add a little more class and prep to the look).

6) BELTED A belt is all you really need to pull an outfit together. In fact, a belt is the difference between a simple jeans and tee combo and an actual outfit. We love a big vintage buckle like the ones from Gucci, or Tori Burch, but you may be hard pressed to find one that’s affordable. Try your had at some used clothing apps like Carousell or Depop, but if that doesn’t work we’d suggest our second favourite- the double buckle belt! Or even a single buckle like this one from UO.

7) SNEAKS AND GEEKS  It’s no secret that a nice white sneaker pairs with every kind of pant. Try out this pair of Stan Smiths from UO or pair your flares with some Old Skool Vans for even more of a retro look.

                                                                                                                                      Photos coutesy of Urban Outfitters

 8) STRAPPY Let’s hear it for sandals! Sandals and flares, a classic summer pairing. We personally love the chunkiness of a good Birkenstock like the ones below but if that’s not your style, Free People has a huge range of strappy sandals to choose from, all of which are perfectly suited for your flares.

                                                                                                                                             Photos courtesy of Free People

9) THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING We’ve laid out three options here to keep it simple but really you can do no wrong with a nice heeled boot. With your flares and boots, you’ll be standing sleek and tall regardless of the style. Our favourite go-tos make it just that much easier for you to choose- 1) Patterned and pointed- like this Jeffrey Campbell Stratford Heel from Free People 2) The simple Chelsea- like this clean black pair from Urban Outfitters or 3) Embellished booties like these funky ones from Free People.

10) YOUR PERFECT HEEL At the end of the day, when all else has failed and you can’t decide what shoes to wear for the life of you, look no further. The classic black stiletto. It goes with everything, and always looks fashionable. Check out this pair from Urban Outfitters.
