The wellness space on Instagram is more than saturated. I’m sure you follow at least one account that promotes fitness or healthy eating. It can be great! It helps people stay motivated, gives tons of inspiration for recipes and ways we can add healthier options into our lives but there is a very, very fine line with beneficial and problematic. This side of Instagram can be extremely triggering for some. It’s always important to take everyone you see and learn on the internet with a grain of salt but here are some of my top tips to make sure your mindset stays positive and left unchanged if you do follow fitness influencers on Instagram:
- Instagram is a highlight reel
-
This goes for everyone. People only post photos where they look good, are flexing or have ideal lighting to their advantage. Just because they look a certain way with 6 pack abs in one photo, does NOT mean they look like that 24/7, especially after eating a meal like the rest of us which is NORMAL.
- Check your facts
-
Many within this space are very knowledgeable and share some important and valuable information but others not so much. For real, useful tips, follow people who are certified whether it be a nutritionist, dietitian or personal trainer so you know you are getting proper information.
- Take inspiration
-
Instagram is amazing for taking inspiration from others. Keep it at that – don’t feel that you need to completely live by another person’s lifestyle because it is aesthetic or cool. You do you, boo!
Hopefully, these tips were relatively helpful. It’s always important to note, if someone is sharing content that you don’t enjoy seeing or it doesn’t make you feel good. Unfollow them. That’s what that button is for. Surround yourself with positive vibes in real life and on the internet too.
