Gifts to Give Every Type of Friend This Christmas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Toronto MU chapter.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and you know what that means? Gifts, gifts, and more gifts. During the season of giving, it’s important to give the ones you love something special for Christmas. However, it can be a major struggle to find the perfect gifts for the different types of friends we all may have. Whether you’re getting a friend a gift for secret Santa, or just want to get them something special for the holidays to show them some love, the time for stressing out is over. If you have no clue what to get your various friends for Christmas and want to avoid getting them something they’ll return, look no further.

The stressed out friend

Whether we like to admit it or not, we’ve all been the stressed-out friend at one point or another. For the friend who is constantly doing homework, working at their part-time jobs, and never has time to relax, the ideal gift is something to help them de-stress and just relax.

For just $30 at Saje Natural Wellness, this cute gift idea can help your stressed-out friend get some proper shut-eye and wake up feeling rejuvenated. The sleep routine restful sleep kit is a gift set that includes Sleep Well Remedy, made with lavender (perfect for helping with sleep), which you can roll onto the jaw or other pulse points. The kit also includes a Tranquillity Mist that can be sprayed onto your pillow and face, topped off with the soft eyeshade to end the day.

The foodie friend

We all have a friend that always brings the best homemade meals to gatherings and has tons of pictures of their food at the best restaurants on their Instagram. If you have a friend that wants to do nothing more than to learn new recipes, the perfect gift to give them is the new highly acclaimed cookbook by Antoni Porowski, Antoni In The Kitchen.
This cookbook, composed by Netflix’s Queer Eye’s food and wine expert, Antoni Porowski, is a perfect gift for foodie friends. This New York Times bestseller is currently available on Amazon for $28.11 and includes recipes from simple dishes, appetizers for hosting parties, and desserts to end off a long day in front of the TV.

The makeup guru friend

Just last month, on November 1st, to be exact, makeup artist Jeffree Star and YouTuber Shane Dawson released a collaboration collection of new makeup products. From lipsticks to eyeshadow palettes, the collection sold out insanely fast. If you can get your hands on an item from this collection, that’s a great gift. But you definitely can’t go wrong with the classics for your makeup-loving friend. The absolutely flawless Fenty Beauty by Rihanna makeup line is one that never fails to impress.

I myself am a proud owner of the Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in shades Lightning Dust and Fire Crystal, as well as the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in shade Fenty Glow. I can confidently say these products are to die for, and any make-up lover will 100 per cent appreciate anything Fenty Beauty. Perfect for the holiday season, Rih released the Glossy Posse Mini Gloss Bomb Set. The limited edition set features the shade FU$$Y, as well as four brand new shades for $56.

The lazy friend

The lazy friend, AKA the friend that would rather rewatch Friends for the sixth time instead of going out on a Friday night, is the friend who loves alone time, as well as the art of doing nothing. You can get this friend a fuzzy blanket and matching fuzzy socks or even some cosy new PJs because even though they already have an abundance of those, the more the merrier! This kind of friend would especially love a gift card to Uber Eats or SkipTheDishes so they really won’t have to leave the house. I think the best gift to really encourage this kind of friend to get ready and dolled up for an evening out with the girls is a nice, refreshing pampering before heading out for the night. Lush Cosmetics has a wide variety of different gift sets perfect for the holiday season.
Although some of these Christmas gift sets can get pretty pricey, the one I personally recommend is specifically meant for getting ready for a party. For $39.95, this pre-party gift set called Christmas Cheer contains a shower bomb, shower gel, soap, body conditioner, and lastly, a lip scrub. Your friend will be feeling energized and party ready in no time. (Not to mention, they’ll smell extra lovely too!)

The finishing touches

Now that you’ve gotten your friends their gifts, it’s time for gift wrapping and additions. Wrap the gift in any way you’d like. Whether it’s in a basket, a box, or a bag, make sure it looks nice, and of course, can fit all the contents inside. Be sure to include some cute little extras along the gift. For example, a Christmas card with a lovely handwritten message, a Christmas ornament that reminded you of them, some chocolate or candy – maybe even throw in a holiday-scented candle. Finally, put the red bow on top of the wrapping, and you’re officially done. Merry Christmas!
