5 Toronto Restaurants You Need To Try

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Toronto MU chapter.

What’s worse than having no where to eat? Having too many places to choose from. Toronto might as well be known as the city of food because there’s so much to choose from. So next time you’re stuck on finding a place, check out these low key restaurants that have amazing food.

El Catrin

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, in a really adorable authentic setting, El Catrin is definitely the place to go. I especially recommend it in the summer, because the patio is really gorgeous. Located in the Distillery District, this restaurant is definitely going to win over anyone who likes a good mexican meal. While the prices can be a little bit on the expensive side, the dishes are meant to be shared so you can try a little bit of everything. The food is to die for, whether you like it sweet, spicy, or if you’re just going for their guac (which is the best guac, and they make it right in front of you!). The restaurant is known for its atmosphere and sometimes even features a live band. You definitely will forget that you’re at the Distillery District in Toronto.

Terronis

If you’re looking for something Italian, and authentic Italian, Terroni’s is definitely the place. There are 3 locations in Toronto; Adelaide, Queen, and Yonge at Price—each location is gorgeous and authentically decorated. It makes you feel like you’re in Italy, enjoying a real Italian meal. This is also a great restaurant if you are looking for a fancy date night, or looking to host an event or birthday. It’s a really classy restaurant and while the prices aren’t super cheap, it’s definitely worth it (the portions are huge!).

Do Not Disturb

If you’re looking for something a little more different, and a little more Insta-worthy, a restaurant to check out would be Do Not Disturb above The Beverley Hotel on Queen Street. It’s  rooftop patio, that has both a covered patio and exposed patio, which makes it ideal for the spring and summer months. The aesthetic is high class, and you’ll definitely feel like a celebrity eating here. They are well known for their special drinks and rooftop bar, making it a super hot destination for the summer months. They also feature really fancy, but fun summer snacks and food, such as cocktail shrimp and fancy prawn crackers.

Frans Restaurant and Bar

What’s better than an all day breakfast old school diner? A 24 hour all day breakfast old school diner. Frans diner is the spot downtown, whether you want pancakes for breakfast or after a late night out. Reminiscent of Pop’s Chocklit Shoppe on Riverdale, this restaurant has a ‘50s old-school vibe, with really cute retro decorations. They have the fluffiest pancakes around town, and their food is amazing. Not only do they have really good breakfast all day—they also have great food and drinks for lunch and dinner as well, featuring homemade burgers and homestyle fries.

WISH

Located at Charles and Yonge, just by Bloor, WISH is the hottest spot and definitely the cutest Instagram worthy restaurant. The decorations, and cute signs and food are definitely something that bloggers are going to love. Since it’s a really small place, they recommend making reservations as they do get really busy. The food is outstanding, and they have a variety of dishes that are really different and unique, such as Grilled Half Cornish Hen, and a variety of cool options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s great for a one on one lunch, as the atmosphere is super bright and intimate.
