Nobody likes a cluttered mailbox, and I definitely don’t like filtering through a million different subscriptions and newsletters coming through. After years of blindly unsubscribing from every email I received in a fit of rage and frustration, I finally took the time out to handpick the few that I love and stick to them. Here are my top five newsletter recommendations, and trust me– they’re worth space in your inbox:

Morning Brew

Morning Brew was one of the first newsletters I’ve subscribed to, and one of the few that I haven’t unsubscribed from. Morning Brew gives you your daily news roundup of the top business stories in under five minutes – just long enough for you to get your dose of news before your coffee gets cold.

The Newsette

The Newsette is my personal favourite newsletter. According to their website, “The Newsette is a platform that celebrates women on their way—from dynamic female founders and industry leaders, to the next generation of ambitious women building their dream careers.”

The Newsette gives you your daily roundup of all things beauty, fashion, tech and more. One thing I love is that they begin every newsletter with a “Thing To Do Today,” and it’ll be a link to a really cool article like “10 Impressive Questions to Ask in a Job Interview” or “Learn how to keep your hair static-free this winter (even under your favourite wool hat).” They also sometimes share their “Best of Instagram” and “Items of the Day” which are great for inspo. They end with a little “Today I Will” which is usually a nice little affirmation.

P.S: you have to check out their Instagram–it’s SO cute!

BoF Daily Digest

For everyone looking to get their foot in the door in the fashion industry, look no further–this newsletter is the perfect place to start. The Business of Fashion sends out a daily digest with “Today’s Must Read,” fashion news from around the world, featured job opportunities and more! It’s the perfect stepping stone for people looking to get more familiar with what’s going on in the fashion world and learn the lay of the land. I personally find their articles super helpful and informative – also, if you’re a student, you get to subscribe to their newsletter for free!

Girls’ Night In

Girls’ Night In is a newsletter created for the nights we want nothing more but to stay in and get cozy. If you’re the type of person who likes to kick back, put a face mask on and Netflix in bed, this is the newsletter for you! They send out a newsletter every Friday with their best self-care tips, recommendations, staff picks and a little insta-inspo to end your week right. GNI’s CEO created this newsletter after suffering from burnout herself and realizing how much she enjoyed just hanging out with her girlfriends rather than going out. They also get brownie points for having an adorable website!

TheSkimm

The Daily Skimm is a newsletter delivered straight to your inbox full of all the must-know news around town. Aside from top news stories, they share their “Skimm Picks,” and a little segment called Skimmrs where they shout out subscribers that either have something cool to share, or it might just be their birthday! TheSkimm has branched out from more than just a newsletter, and now have an app, a podcast and a whole section on their website dedicated to ‘guides’ if readers want to get their hands on some deeper reading.

Zainab is a feminist and fierce advocate against social injustice - she hopes to use her platform and writing to create change in the world, one article at a time.
Sarah is a fourth-year journalism student at Ryerson University. As Ryerson's Campus Correspondent, Sarah is a self-proclaimed grammar nerd. In her spare time, Sarah is either buried in a book, trying to figure out how to be a functioning adult, or enjoying a glass of wine - hopefully all at once.
