With the weather cooling down and the number of COVID-19 cases going up, fall fashion might be the last thing on all of our minds. However, I believe that we can still have fun with our fashion this fall while we stay cozy at home. The following are a few fashion pieces that I believe will be staples for this fall as we stay safe through this weird time.

Oversized Denim Jacket

Darker denim jackets seem to come into fashion every fall. With different washes, lengths, and distressing, the amount of denim jackets you can own is simply endless. A style that I’ve been seeing a lot this fall is an oversized dark-wash distressed denim. I’ve had my eye on one from ZARA as part of my fall shopping list. Oversized denim jackets like this can easily be paired with a cropped t-shirt or knit underneath. They can be paired with any bottoms, or you can dress yourself in full denim. A denim jacket like this is easy to throw on to step out of the house, or to wear inside on chilly days.

Square Cat-Eye Glasses

While we move into cooler weather, we have been actually enjoying quite good weather and a very sunny September. One of the trends that I love and will definately be  transitioning from my summer to fall wardrobe is the square cat-eye sunglasses trend. These sunglasses frame your face and give you a model-like look, made famous by Hailey Bieber. While you can pay hundreds of dollars for the designer versions of these sunglasses, my favourites are the SORVINO brand from Amazon, which retail just under twenty dollars! Something I love about these glasses are, you can almost go incognito when you wear them on top of your face mask so no one can tell who you are when you’re out in public.

Tank Top & Matching Cardigan

A trend that I have been loving for fall this year is the matching tank top and cardigan trend. The first time I’ve seen this trend was in the 2020 launch of the Wilfred brand at ARITZIA. This is a trend that I’ve been loving for quarantine as it’s super comfy, cozy, and stylish. The look is very put together and almost an elevated version of the basic tank-top, cardigan look.

Plaid Shirt/Jacket

A trend that’s making a comeback this year is plaid. Last year, this was all over the runways, some outfits consisting of head-to-toe plaid. This year, I have seen plaid accents in outfits including, pants, skirts, blazers, shirts, and jackets. The trend ties into the preppy school-girl style that’s been popular this year. With the stay-at-home orders still in place, I believe a fun way to wear this trend is to wear a plaid button up shirt or jacket for layering around the house.

Slippers

Another trend that’s been popular is the slipper trend. With everyone staying home, slippers are a COVID-19 essential. When I first saw these Ugg slippers last year, I thought they were the ugliest things I’ve ever seen. However, I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’ve been in quarantine for months or am more attracted to comfy clothing but I love the look of these comfy slippers and have been seeing them everywhere this season. When I went onto the UGG Canada website to look for these slippers, they were almost sold out, which shows how popular they are and will continue to be moving into the Christmas season.
