Do’s and Don’ts of Formal Recruitment

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at RIT chapter.
Panhellenic Recruitment kicks off on September 11th, and HC RIT has all the Do’s and Don’ts every PNM should know!

Do: Be outgoing and friendly, you will be more memorable later and sisters will want to talk to you!

Don’t: Ask about partying and boys, as sisters can’t answer those types questions!

Do: Tell us about activities you were involved in during high school or college. Sisters want to know and it shows that you’ll be a productive member of the sorority!

Don’t: Come in thinking you only want one house. Opinions can change and you might learn some really surprising things throughout the weekend!

Do: Look nice every night of recruitment! You don’t have to wear a ball gown, but if you show up in sweatpants and a sweatshirt sisters might think you’re not serious about joining!

Don’t: Tell one house if you’re leaning towards joining another. Sisters might think they’re wasting their time trying to recruit you and you could miss out on finding the house you truly belong to.

Do: Tell the sisters a fun, quirky, or interesting fact; it will make you more memorable!

Don’t: Stay glued to the girls you know in your group. You could get lost in the crowd and the sisters could miss the chance to get to know you.

Do: Have an awesome time! This will be one of the most memorable weekends of your life! You will be exhausted every night, but excited to go back every day. This is the beginning of an amazing lifelong commitment that you will never
regret!

Good luck!
