The Halotherapy experience is a new health kick that has been circling the health world. More and more, people are drowning in pressures from family, workload, friends and social media, and are on the lookout for healthy lifestyle practices. After reading raging reviews of Halotherapy, I decided to give it a try. While Halotherapy sounded like a great idea, I wasn’t completely sure what it was. I wondered what you do in the room and what the benefits of using the room were. These are just some of the frequently asked questions that Donna Carty, owner of the Halotherapy Salt Spa in Brockville, Ontario, hears daily. After my incredible experience at her spa over the summer, I decided to sit down with Donna to discuss not only my own experience, but the many other positive results that her clients have experienced. Together, we compiled some of the most commonly asked questions to help you better understand the purpose of Halotherapy and share how wonderful Halotherapy and Salt Spas really are!

What is Halotherapy?

“The Halotherapy Salt Spa experience consists of a climate-controlled salt room that uses micro-particles of pure pharmaceutical salt dispersed into the air in a controlled environment. It promotes better respiratory function, healthier skin, sounder sleep, enhanced physical fitness, immune support, relaxation, and stress reduction. Salt is a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, which assists in reducing inflammation of the respiratory system and strengthens the immune system.

With the use of our UK medically certified halogenerator, we have the ability to bring you the healing benefits of the therapeutic air you would receive from the salt mines. Salt Therapy can be used as an all-natural, drug-free treatment to complement traditional medicine as well as a relaxing treatment to distress your mind and body.

It can help with any respiratory and skin conditions and naturally decreases stress and anxiety”.

From your experience with your clients, what results/feedback have you received?

“I have clients that are now breathing better, allergies are gone, skin rashes completely healed and many that come simply for relaxation and stress relief that we could all use in the busy society that we live in”.

What do I do in the Salt Spa?

Whatever your heart desires! However, this is a great time to unwind and detach from the digital world. Therefore, it is encouraged that you leave your cell phone behind so that you can focus on mindfulness and being present. Some popular things that people do in the spa include napping, yoga, stretching, meditating, reading a book, and simply relaxing with your feet up in a chair.

Why do you personally believe in Halotherapy?

“My daughter developed a skin disorder at puberty. Every treatment the doctors provided had a large list of side effects. I was advised to try a salt room in Ottawa and we did. To our surprise, it relieved her of all symptoms and her asthma. I was more relaxed and my skin was softer as well and I didn’t think I had anything to treat. The benefits were so huge I decided to open my own spa in Brockville so others in the area could benefit”.

What are the benefits of a salt lamp in my house/room?

Donna explains that the benefits of a salt lamp can vary depending on the person who is using it. She uses salt lamps to set a calming and soothing vibe in her bedroom.

Whatever your needs are, I can almost guarantee you that Halotherapy will benefit you in some way, shape or form. Whether you seek it out for skin conditions, breathing, or simply just to escape the world around you, Halotherapy is the place for you!
