5 Ways to Fight off the Flu

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

Last year, the flu took out everyone. With everyone in close quarters in class, there are a couple ways to avoid getting the flu. Here are five tips that I’ve learned.

1. Clean your hands before eating

It’s super easy to get the flu if you never wash or sanitize your hands. Especially after touching surfaces that a ton of other people have already touched. I love carrying around a small bottle of hand sanitizer that I can whip out at any time.

2. Don’t touch your face

Rubbing your nose and eyes is a super easy way for germs to enter your body. This goes hand in hand with cleaning your hands. So before touching your face, make sure your hands are clean.

3. Drink water

Water is super important, especially around flu season. It provides hydration and can help promote good skin. Drinking lots of fluids can help strengthen your body to fight off germs.

4. Get a flu shot

Although getting a flu shot doesn’t entirely guarantee that you won’t get the flu, it can help provide protection to the immune system.

5. Get rest

It can be difficult to get enough rest during the week with the stress of classes and homework. But with enough rest and sleep, fighting off the flu will be a lot easier.

Good luck with avoiding the flu everyone!
