The 411 on the Newest Fitness Trend: Plogging

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

Trying to find a way to stick with your New Years Resolution to exercise more? Running out of excuses as to why you can’t go to the gym?  Looking for a way to do something good for the environment? Then say hello to plogging!

Yep, you read that right, plogging. According to BuzzFeed,  this new fitness trend’s all the rave in Sweden. How does one go plogging? It’s super simple, next time you go for a jog, bring a bag and pick up any trash you find. There’s also an added bonus for you. Every time you reach down to pick up some litter, you get to burn some extra calories since you’re pretty much doing a squat. #Fitness

Running not your thing? No problem, people also do plogging while biking, paddle-boarding and walking their dog aka you have no excuse as to why you can’t do it. When it comes to plogging, there’s truly something for everyone.

Let’s start doing our part by #plogging – That’s #collecting #rubbish while you are out #jogging. To start all you need is a pair of comfy trainers some bags (maybe even a trash grabber). Collect recycle and normal rubbish separately for easy disposal when you get home. #clean #world #planet #exercise #helptheplanet #savetheworld #healthylife #healthy
