Reasons to go to the Gym or Workout

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PS Berks chapter.

I’ve been trying to go to the gym twice a week. At first, it was a struggle to find room in my schedule to fit one day. I have now managed to fit in two days a week.

  • When you really want to do something, your schedule seems to work with you.

This is how I managed to get to the gym. I would have class cancelled, or meetings cancelled or rescheduled, and I would have time to go. I took it as a sign that I was meant to go to the gym. I have also rearranged my schedule at times or told people I was busy.

The gym counts as a meeting, right?

  • I wanted to make more friends, and I have. The gym at school is generally filled with guys. I don’t really talk to them, but I do know a couple that I will wave to. Also, I have more people to wave to while I walk around campus.

  • You know you are getting stronger. There was a 45 pound weight on a bar so I took it off and carried it across the gym and I wasn’t really struggling. It surprised me that I could even more two feet with it, let alone twenty.

  • I feel better about myself. I smile when I’m at the gym. Most people look like they would bite your head off if you approached them. I get happy. I smile while deadlifting, which gets some strange looks. I get happy because I can do it. I’ve been trying to get stronger, and it is happening. It makes me feel really healthy.
