Why Journalism? : “I close to major in journalism because of my love for writing, and because I have a big interest in current events and reporting the truth. I wrote for Reading Eagle’s Voices section for two years in high school and that really helped me to solidify my goal of becoming a journalist. After studying the scandals of Watergate, the Catholic Church, and the Panama Papers in my high school journalism class, I narrowed it down to investigative journalism specifically because I love the pressure of time-sensitive reporting and responsibility of telling the public what they need to hear”.
Tell me about your love for Harry Potter: “I started reading Harry Potter in fourth grade and have been involved in the series ever since. The characters and themes in the books really shaped my childhood. I’m currently reading them in order for the third of fourth time, and I’m so excited for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. J.K. Rowling is such a creative inspiration for me, and I admire her persistence and willingness to push for causes she believes in”.
