Welcome (or Welcome Back)!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ole Miss chapter.

Welcome (or welcome back) to Ole Miss! Whether you’re just entering the university or you’re trying to hurry and get out, we’ve all been preparing for a great semester. There are several changes and new additions to campus this year. As you may have notice, there are a few construction projects going taking place on campus; like the huge empty space in the first floor of the union, this was once the U.S Postal Service, however it’s been removed. Now students can rent mailboxes and recieve mail through Pak Mail in Crosby Hall. The JC is officailly back in its original location and several streets that were closed last semster and over the summer a finally back open.

For many students, things get easier after the first week. However, for others the transition from high school to college or just getting back into the swing of things with the new semester is a struggle. It’s been three weeks and many students still aren’t where they want to be within the semester. Some of you may be getting bombarded by people to join their club or organization or sign petitions,  others may be concerned about which sorority they’ll join or still getting lost on campus. Although it’s the third week of school, there are still a lot of things happening on on campus and everything seems so fast paced. Everyone isn’t going to be prepared for every course and be a week ahead on their homework and that’s okay. One way to continue to transition and get back into the swing is to be sure to stay on top of all of your assignments. Know when they are due and how much time you’ll have to do them; forgetting to turn in one thing can change everything.  Spirit is often times what keeps the flow of things moving around campus.

As we approach our first home game, I hope you are able to experience tailgating in the Grove. We’ve been on a winning streak, however, win or lose I hope you are always ready to cheer the Rebels on.

One last thing, Her Campus is also being welcomed back to campus. Be sure to look out for us whenever you’re on campus.
