The best part of any chick flick? The makeover scene! The bit we spend the whole movie patiently waiting for. It’s not about the guy she ends up with or what happens to her … it’s all about what they do with her hair and how many new outfits she gets! So here are our top 10 movie makeovers since Disney gave Ariel legs and Cinderella glass slippers:
1)The Devil Wears Prada
Miranda: And before today you had never heard of me?Andrea: No.Miranda: You have no style or sense of fashion.Andrea: I think that depends on -Miranda: No, no, that wasn’t a question.
*Cue Madonna’s ‘Vogue’* Anne Hathaway takes on a new job in the fashion industry and has to change her entire image to fit in at flawless fashion runway magazine ‘Runway’. After ditching the lumpy jumpers (in the blue selected for her by the people in this room) and getting a hair cut Andie is on point! Don’t forget the Chanel boots and the day she sold her soul for a pair of Jimmy Choos (like you wouldn’t!)
2) Princess Diaries
“I can’t be a princess! I’m still waiting for normal body parts to arrive!”
This is the best teenage makeover ever. When Anne Hathaway (queen of makeover movies) finds out she’s a princess she gets more than a throne. Regal grandmother Julie Andrews treats her to a royal makover and after breaking a hairbrush and snapping her glasses in half she emerges a true princess.
3) Clueless
“Cher’s main thrill in life is a makeover” “I am rescuing her from teenage hell!”
Do-gooder Cher’s main thrill in life is doing a makeover. There are two makeovers in this movie. The first being when they introduced Tai to the world of bare midriffs with ‘I wanna be a Supermodel’ playing the background and all the outfits spinning around the room. Every movie makeover scene should have that. The second is Cher’s makeover on herself: doing more charity work and working on her mind.
4) Pretty Woman
Shop Assistant: Hello, can I help you?Vivian: I was in here yesterday, you wouldn’t wait on me.Shop Assistant: Oh.Vivian: You people work on commission, right?Shop Assistant: Yeah.Vivian: Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.
Going from working on the street wearing pretty much nothing to shopping for amazing clothes and making snooty shop assistants feel bad about themselves! Julia Roberts had the classiest movie makeover going!
5) She’s All That
“I feel just like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. You know, except for the whole hooker thing.”
Shake out that hair and take off those glasses and voila!
6) Mean Girls
“Being with the plastics was like being famous … people looked at you all the time and everybody just knew stuff about you.”
Cady went from home schooled jungle freak to shiny Plastic to most hated person in the world to actual human being. Her transformation began as scary but eventually she became as her parents would say “socialised.”
7) My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Gus Portokalos: “You better get married soon. You’re starting to look… old”Toula Porokalos: “My dad’s been saying that to me since I was 15.”
Toula is so inspiring. She takes control of her life by going to night school and landing herself a job at th travel agents. She also boosts her self confidence with a little makeup and some contacts. She finally gets to sit with the pretty girls and eat Wonderbread sandwiches!
8) House Bunny
“Guys Lily just texted me… she says we look hot and this is fun!”
Cannot resist this makeover scene. So many girls getting beautiful in one scene. It’s makeover movie heaven. The best makeover goes to Emma Stone’s character Natalie! In the end they go back to being 40% them and 60% playboy bunny Shelly (why not 50/50? Cos say what you want about Shelly – the girl had style.)
9) Grease
“Tell me about it… Stud!” When Sandy ditched the good girl cheerleader look and went for the bad girl leather clad perm look we were all in awe. That makeover was so powerful it made a car fly.
10) St. Trinians
“You’ve had this coming since the day you arrived Fritton”
“What are you going to do to me?”
“Give you a makeover silly!”

Annabelle’s makeovers were so numerous we can’t not put a video! She became part of the St. Trinian’s family as soon as her hair was introduced to volume.
