The 8 Worst Things To Do During Exam Period

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

1.    Find a new hobby. Now is not the time to decide to act on your lifelong ambition of learning the flute. You will probably suck anyway.

2.    Start a new TV series. Or get a Netflix account.  Netflix has got this great new feature where it automatically plays the next episode. This means it’s actually more effort to NOT put on the next one than it is to watch it. Breaking Bad will still be here during the summer.

3.    Have an epiphany about life. “Woah, guys you won’t believe it but I’ve just realised that my true calling in life is to move to Tanzania and live amongst the Wildebeest”. This is guaranteed to not motivate you in your contemporary literature exam.

4.    Invest in top of the range speakers. For your housemates sakes.

5.    Find a new love interest. You’ll find that revision suddenly becomes even LESS appealing than it already was.

6.    Download a new app. You know what you were like with Candycrush. Remember Farmville? Remember how it nearly claimed your GCSEs? This is a problem you’ll never escape.

7.    Surrender to peer pressure. I’m not saying hold yourself hostage. But if you don’t actually want to go out, don’t allow yourself to somehow end up in Ocean anyway.

8.    Check your exam timetable for the first time. They’ve been out for weeks now – at least put a reminder in your phone for a couple of weeks before the exam! If you leave it until the last minute to check dates, you will definitely overestimate how much time you have.

She is studying English and would love a career in journalism or marketing (to name two very broad industries). But for now, her favourite pastimes include nightclubs, ebay, cooking, reading, hunting down new music, watching thought-provoking films, chatting, and attempting to find a sport/workout regime that she enjoys!
