A Review of Lipsticks: Which to Buy and Which to Avoid

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

Lipstick: that go-to beauty product for an evening out or an everyday look. Most women wear lipstick because it highlights their natural beauty and gives them that extra confidence.

While lipstick is what seems to be an essential product, most women who buy lipstick are unaware of the ingredients in lipstick. Most lipstick are primarily made out of wax and oils. Neither of these ingredients are harmful. However, there are ingredients that are harmful to the human body, such as: red dye 22, tocopheryl acetate, and lead, the most harmful.

Here is a comprehensive list of the lipsticks that you should not buy as well as the ones that you should buy to ensure to avoid those harmful toxins.

There are many other companies that sell toxin-free lipsticks. To avoid putting toxins into your body, I suggest buying these toxin-free lipsticks. They may be the slightest bit more expensive, but in the long run, the benefits will outweigh the cost.
