With spring already upon us, the weather will finally start to warm up (hopefully at least). Keep that sunny image in your mind because plans must come into the picture too. Here are a list of things to do in New York City during the spring to finally get the most of New York’s best weather!

  1. The New York City Ferry

For $2.75 you can go to various locations from Long Island to Coney Island! The experience itself is breathtaking as you tour around bridges for a price that is basically a steal compared to the tours in the city. If you take the Stuyvesant Cove Ferry (closest to The New School) you can go towards Wall Street where you’ll pass Williamsburg Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and, of course, The Brooklyn Bridge. Taking the trip during sunset is the perfect photo opportunity with barely anyone riding in the upper deck!

2. Roosevelt Island Tram

The Roosevelt Island Tramway runs every 7-15 minutes from 59th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan to Tramway Plaza on Roosevelt Island. Four Freedoms State Park is a must see in Roosevelt! Getting great views of the city with multiple events often occurring from yoga, book readings, kite flying, public talks to music performances!

3. The Hallett Nature Sanctuary in Central Park

Looking for the perfect picnic spot? The Hallett Nature Sanctuary is open daily from 10:00 A.M. until the sun sets! Enjoy being outdoors and bringing friends over to finally enjoy New York City in such a beautiful season.

Location: Enter at 6th Avenue and Central Park South

4. Fort Tilden Beach

Maybe we’re overly excited for the summer but this three mile stretch of clean sand is the perfect weekend getaway. Not so ready for the water? No worries: the grassy dunes and trees are perfect to just sit around and have a calm day with friends. (P.S. Biking to Fort Tilden is a great ride and adds to the calming experience.)

5. Luna Park

Closed during the winter, the iconic Coney Island theme park is finally opening its rides on April 2nd! Enjoy rides such as the Coney Island cyclone or the original Nathan’s Famous Hotdogs. You can even attempt the Nathan’s Hotdog Eating Contest and try to beat the original record of Joey Chestnut for eating 71 hotdogs in 2019.

6. The Orchid Show at New York Botanical Garden

The orchids are finally ready for the Spring, bringing you to a whole other environment within New York City. The exhibition is perfect for date nights or simply a self care day!

7. Central Park Boat Ride

The lake is finally clear of ice, bringing back the romantic Boat Ride for $15. Explore 22-acres of Central Park’s lake for the afternoon, perfect for an intimate conversation with friends and loved ones!
