Five Ways to Wear Pantone’s Color of the Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at New School chapter.

As declared by Pantone, the color of 2019 is “Living Coral,” it’s described as, “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.” “Living Coral” scared me a bit. As someone who wears black, grey, and white interchangeably, this color at first glance looks like hot pink or something out of the nightmare color scheme from my middle school days where everything had to be neon and tribal print. The color is bold, but so is the attitude of 2019 (as I have declared). So if you think you can’t pull off Living Coral, I’m here to tell you – you can! Here are five ways on how you can incorporate the color into your wardrobe this 2019.

1. On Your Ears!

Acrylic earrings seem to be in right now. Probably because they’re fun, lightweight, and there are so many different shapes they can take. Here’s a pair from Syd and Mallory, an independent label made in Sheffield, UK. The coral color isn’t overwhelming, but just enough to give you an extra pop. These earrings have me longing for summer. They also make me want to wear a floppy white hat while I sip a margarita on an island somewhere.

2. To Put All Your Sh*t In!

At first, I thought this was just a cute makeup bag with a motto I tend to already live by, but upon further analysis, it’s actually a festival kit. It includes all your Coachella needs like temporary tattoos, dry shampoo, and two extra earring backings. Although if it was me, I would’ve scratched the flash tats and included pepper spray and a sunscreen flask.

3. On Your Feet!

In 2019, we’re all about fashionable shoes you can dance in, which is why the heels on these coral babies are perfect. Just make sure you get a pedicure before strapping them on, cause this color is sure to draw onlookers to your boogie feet.

4. In the Ocean!

Has this article turned into my summer 2019 mood board? Yes. This coral striped one piece looks so dreamy, and also has me thirsty for a glass of rosé. Why does this color make me want to drink?

5. To Warm Your Bones!

Finally, something you can wear in the winter! Tell January and February (and probably March) to shove it with their gloomy weather, because in 2019 we’re bold, we’re brilliant, and we’re living in Living Coral. (Sweater 1 & Sweater 2)
