5 Ways to Master Meditation

Taking time in your day to center yourself and to clear your mind amid the non-stop, busy schedules that many of us have is a wonderful way to improve your quality of life. You can learn how to be at peace with your mind through giving yourself a small break in each of your days to be for meditation. Although it can be challenging to slow down our ever-running streams of consciousness, through practice and these tips, you will be on your way to mastering meditation.

1. Free 10 minutes of your day.

You may need to get up a few minutes earlier or to go to bed a little later, but if you can’t even find 10 minutes in your day to meditate, chances are that you probably need about double the time to meditate!

2. Find a comfortable environment to meditate.

If it’s a sunny day outside, head to your local park or find a relaxing spot in nature. If the weather isn’t permitting or you would rather stay inside — no problem. As long as your body is comfortable where you sitting and you surrounded by loud distractions, you’re on the right track.

3. Listen to guided meditations.

Learning how to meditate usually includes following guidance from professionals — and you can find this for free! Follow Spotify’s “Guided Meditation” playlist or their “Guided Meditation For Everybody” playlist.

4. Download an app to help guide your meditation.

My favorite meditation app is called Calm, as it offers a wide range of guided meditations, breathing exercises, sleep stories, and soothing sounds. Find which meditation app works best for you here.

5. Be patient and kind to yourself.

Meditation takes a lot of time and practice to become accustomed to. Don’t be critical to yourself if is at first difficult or seemingly impossible to clear your mind. You will get there within due time!
