5 Great Ways to Get Into the Holiday Spirit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Monmouth chapter.

The holidays are quickly approaching and you still have papers to write and final exams to study for. Winter break can’t come soon enough, but there are some great ways to get into the holiday spirit!

Have a Bake Off

Grab a few friends, roll out the cookie dough and play with cookie cutters, icing and sprinkles. It’s the perfect way to unwind and bring out your creative side.

Listen to Holiday Tunes

They’ve been playing them on every radio station since Thanksgiving anyway…

Watch Movies

Curl up with your favorite blanket, a bowl of popcorn and tune in to your favorite holiday movie. Whether it’s an animated original from your childhood like “Frosty the Snowman”, an old classic like “It’s a Wonderful Life”, or a modern day comedy like “Elf”, there are so many great movie choices this time of year. Pace yourself and start now if you have to watch all of them like I do.

Drive around and look at Christmas Lights

Some people really go all out to light up their homes and others not so much, but it’s always fun to cruise around with your guy or your gal pals while listening to the holiday tunes to see what’s out there.

Give to Others

‘Tis the season of giving and you don’t have to look very far to find a charity in need. Whether it’s donating a toy, an old winter coat, or picking up a few cans of vegetables for the local food bank; there are so many ways to help make someone else’s holiday a little bit brighter.
