Friendsmas (n.) – Everything fun and festive about Christmas, but with your best friends! As a teenager in the 21st century, there is no doubt that you’ve heard about Friendsgiving, a time where all your closest friends can get together and have a second Thanksgiving just like the little family your group of friends truly is, and you get to have two food comas instead of one…what could be better than that? The answer to that question is Friendsmas! Why just have Friendsgiving when you can have Friendsmas, too?

The attire that one must wear for any Friendsmas is quite crucial and could have you walking home in a not so jolly mood if you do not comply. Some Friendsmas hosts may require any kind of Christmas attire, while others may choose a specific theme. Regardless of whatever the dress code is, make sure you come decked out in your ugliest Christmas sweater, a Santa hat, and grin from ear to ear.

Friendmas is always a place for friendly competition as well, which means bring on the gingerbread house wars! All the partygoers establish their gingerbread teams, and anaylze the weapons of sweetness displayed before them. Will it be the delicate white icing lining the roof as snow, or the colorful gum drop Christmas lights gracing the house that wins over the judge? Do not be scared to get a little messy either; no one is safe from candy spills and the piping bag explosions when rushing for the prize. Prizes also range from party to party; however, a nice plate of Christmas cookies and a glass of milk is always a nice win. If it is good for Santa it is good for the gingerbread house winner too.

Finally, don’t forget about the presents! The perfect Friendmas is sure to have a Secret Santa or a gift swap. Secret Santa is easy, fun, and affordable! Instead of going through the hassle of buying each of your friends a gift, you only have to buy one and even better, everyone is excited to find out who their secret Santa will be. Simply pick out the name of one of your best friends out of a hat and you magically become someone’s Santa, how much more spirit could you have?

Don’t miss out on planning the perfect Friendsmas this year and having the chance to spread the Christmas cheer with all of your best friends by your side. You don’t need anything fancy, just a group of friends, an ugly sweater, a few gingerbead skills, and a holiday gift for your lucky gift recipient to have the best Christmas ever!
