How do you feel about being Campus celeb? And Why do you think you deserve it?

I was told I would be on the Campus celeb page by Andreya Matthew in step one night and was just very excited and honored! I felt like after four years of being very involved on campus that this was a wonderful way of recognizing that and being recognized by students was an awesome thing to receive because I fully support everything and anything we as students come up with and work on, even this page! I guess I would say I deserve it because of the ways I’ve tried to branch out in my time from RA life, to academics to volunteering to being on the step team. I think Le Moyne has opportunities day in and day out to be a part of some many cool things and can receive 1:1 attention to work on them and that’s what makes our school so unique!

You’re so involved on campus, tell us about some of the things you’re in?

I mainly spend my time on campus a lot of different ways. I’m president of Ignatian Ignite which is an interfaith and service club that runs activities such as the Weekly Examen Meditation and Sandwich Makers. I am the co-leader of Sandwich Makers so what that means is my co, James Cochran and I do all the budgeting, shopping, facilitating, and work out all the other logistics of going to the Samaritan Center or having others to go and collaborating with other clubs to help out!We also just got done with Ignatian Heritage Fortnight which ran forums, service activities, lectures, and mediations with Alpha Sigma Nu and many other clubs! Aside from this, I joined the step team last semester. This has been a really awesome experience. I’ve always loved dancing and wanted to try something new. The board is really good at working through the steps one piece at a time and I’m really glad I gave it a try!! I’m also an RA in Foery Hall this year and enjoy hanging out with my staff :-) And I guess finally, for the past four years I’ve held a work study job in Campus Ministry where I’ve really been fortunate enough to witness all the cool things they have going on, so I’ve dabbled in many service trips, choir nights, retreats that they have going on all year! I highly recommend people checking these kind of things out because it’s something that separates our school from so many others and is an extremely rewarding experience for you to grow!

You’re in Sandwich makers, tell us about what you guys do & how you started?

So like I said, I’m the co-leader of sandwich makers. And what we do is make 300 sandwiches each week, 150 on Mondays, 150 on Thursdays in the Den at 9pm. And we deliver the sandwiches the next morning to the Samaritan Center, a soup kitchen in downtown Syracuse that next morning and typically serve breakfast. Our club has about 20 active members but everyone is welcome to come once, twice, with a club, in need of community service hours, or if they just need a study break. We’re a very relaxed group and we work pretty quickly in an assembly line fashion. It’s one of my favorite things at Le Moyne because I think it demonstrates working for others and with others because while you’re making a sandwich for someone in need your also listening to the voices of your Le Moyne Community and most of the time our members, even new members get involved very quickly just helping us bring supplies back or even going to the Samaritan Center in the morning just to see another side of Syracuse. I think this is something so beneficial to do and be a part of as young people in college because it puts our college careers in perspective and also just reminds us to be attentive and loving people each day.

You’re a senior this year, what are some of your plans after graduation?
I do not have any set plans for after graduation. I’m waiting to hear back from AmeriCorps positions and slowly beginning to tap into the job market. I hope to go to grad school in a year or two so for the time being I hope to pay off some of my schooling and enjoy whatever’s next in my journey!
