*ding dong* “Trick-or-Treat!!”

Anyone else miss trick-or-treating…or is it just me? Well, I miss it, a lot.

Trick-or-Treating is honestly the best. Walking around your neighborhood, knocking on doors, and then asking for free candy. What’s better than that?? Or, carrying around massive pillowcases with your friends in a competition to see who can get the most candy. Remember when we would hit the jackpot when a house would just leave a bowl of candy outside and you would clear out the bowl? Oh man, my favorite was going to the houses where they would hand out the king size candy bars. Score! Or the houses that would get really into the Halloween spirit and make you walk through a haunted house to get the candy. Spooky! And there was always that one house who would give out money to some lucky kids. Oh, the good ole days. It’s always fun to reminisce on our childhood days to remember the fun things us little kids got to do.

Remember how awesome it was that you could pick anything in the whole world to dress up for Halloween? I remember always picking the weirdest, randomness costumes and my parents would always try their best to see how they could create a costume out of my idea. The costumes I remember picking in elementary school are a spider, a pig, a lunch lady, and a weatherwoman. Bizarre, right? I have no idea where I came up with these ideas for Halloween, but that’s what makes Halloween fun that you can literally be anything. Then, in middle school came the group costumes with your friends because you were finally old enough to go trick-or-treating without your parents. Oh how cool we felt. Maybe we would even trick-or-treat with our crush…lol! These costumes were always the funniest. I remember being a group of fairies, twin babies, cheerleaders, and cowgirls. Trick-or-Treating without your parents is where the memories were made!!

Then, at the end of the night, our parents would always say, “hey kiddo, I have to check your candy before you start to eat any of eat.” Checking my candy as in making sure nothing is open. In some news cases, a child would bite into their candy and there would be a razorblade or something weird in it (I never knew if those stories were real or not). After the candy was finally checked came the counting and trading candy with friends. I remember I always used to categorize my candy to see which I got the most of, for me it was usually KitKats and Reese’s Cups. Then, of course, you have to trade the “bad” candy with other kids to get rid of it and get more of your favorite candies.

Low-key miss trick-or-treating because that was honestly such a good time. Yes, of course I would kill to go trick-or-treating one last time, but I have pictures of me in my costumes to always give me a good laugh. Trick-or-treating is such a great tradition. It can be dangerous, but if you’re paying attention to your surroundings, you’ll be fine. Happy trick-or-treating season!!
