As you all are well aware, our world is experiencing a pandemic right now which is causing a lot of stress and anxiety for what I’m assuming is most of us. For a while I couldn’t wrap my head around what was going on because it all happened so quickly. Having such short notice to pick up your stuff and move from someplace you considered home is extremely difficult. It can be very easy to fall into a downward slope of negativity. I was guilty of it for a very long time and denying the change. However, there is nothing I can do to change the decision of having online classes so instead of being in denial I have tried to find ways to embrace the change.

Living at home can be really hard for some people. As college students, we have become very independent and adjusting back to home life can be somewhat challenging, especially if you can’t really leave your house on top of that since we should be practicing social distancing. In order to “cope” with this, I have tried to change my mindset and turn living at home into something positive. Instead of thinking of this as isolation, we can change it to more of a “turning inward” perspective. When was the last time you were bored? Like really truly bored to the point where you lay on the floor thinking of what to do. I’m sure for most of us college students, it has been a while since we’ve reached this level of boredom. Taking a break from the hectic-ness of life can be such a great thing. We finally have time to pause and stop moving so quickly. If/when this level of boredom hits, here are some things you can do:

· Self-care! Paint your nails, take a long shower (or bath), do a face mask, etc.

· Cook a yummy meal, maybe something you haven’t made before

· Read a book!

· Watch some really good movies, including old & new ones

· Find new music or listen to your favorite albums

· Go for a walk, bike ride, take your dog for a walk, just go outside and get some fresh air and vitamin D

· Clean your room or the house, I’m sure your parents would love that

· Listen to podcasts

· Do ya homework & keep up with online classes

· Clean out your closet

· Draw, paint, write, or basically anything creative

· Spend time with your family!!!!

· Give yourself a makeover

· Watch the sunset

During these crazy times, may we remember all the things we still have to be thankful for. There is a way to make this positive, even through all the sickness and panic. The earth is healing, we are finally able to slow down and enjoy the ride of a life a little more, and maybe even be more grateful for it.
