Taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do every day. In the middle of the semester, while you’re busy with work, school, and friends it can be hard to take the time for yourself. You might just forget or worry that it is taking up valuable time you could be spending on homework. If you’re feeling like this though, then it’s the time you absolutely need to do some self-care!

The beauty of self-care is that it can be different for every person and it could be different for you depending on where you’re at in life and how you’re feeling. Self-care could be making time to go out and get a nice dinner with friends or trying to do something fun in the city together. If you gain more energy from being alone, self-care could just be taking some time to watch your favorite movie or starting that book you’ve always wanted to read.

Self-care also doesn’t need to be a super time consuming process if you don’t want it to be. If you just want to take ten minutes, do something small that makes you feel good. Go for a quick walk if it’s nice out, brew yourself a great cup of coffee and take a few minutes to drink it with no distraction. Try a bit of meditation or yoga, or watch one of your favorite YouTubers for just a few minutes.

Self-care is all about taking care of yourself to help better yourself. If you feel stressed or anxious, but don’t want to take a break, then you definitely need to take this break. Do something to treat yourself or that makes you really happy. Take the time to explore what self-care means to you. If you’re not sure where to start just think about things that relax you or bring your joy and start there. It is always, always okay to take a few minutes for yourself. Remember, you’re only human and it’s 100% acceptable to need some time for you.
