Recap of “Unity: A Poster Gala” Presented by AIGA Jefferson

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

Are you a designer, interested in design, or just like to be creative? AIGA is the professional association for design and has a chapter here at Jefferson. We hold different events and workshops on campus to enhance the value and deepen the impact of design across all disciplines. Our latest event was Unity: A Poster Gala.

This gala was held in December and featured 34 posters created by students from Jefferson, Rutgers Camden, Tyler School of Art, Moore College of Art and Design, and Rowan. The submission was very open ended- submit a poster dealing with unity. Unity was chosen as the theme to “empower and encourage young designers to keep doing what they love to do while encouraging the communication between aspiring student designers within our own community”. The event was held in DEC on the Friday that finals were ending. It was awesome to come together, see all of the submissions pinned up in DEC, mingle with friends, and network with established designers.

At the end of the night, three posters were chosen for awards. The winning posters are shown below.

From left to right: Kori Hirsh (Jefferson, Junior): People’s Choice Winner, Michele Scott (Tyler School of Art, Junior): People’s Choice Runner-up, and Claire Zellin (Jefferson, Junior): AIGA Choice.

If you would like to participate in future events like this or are interested in knowing more about AIGA, meetings are held every other Thursday during the break period in Hayward room 104. Our next meeting will be on February 8th. We would love to see ya there!
